The fish I am holding in my hand is a Filefish. They are a subtropical fish found in shallow waters in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. I was cleaning the hull of a boat at the Dunedin Municipal Marina and found the file fish hanging around the prop. This was the first time I had seen this fish in all my years of diving and cleaning boat bottoms here in Pinellas County. There is an abundance of sea life here in the sub-tropics. Many colorful fish find their way into the marinas and the surrounding waters.
