We were recently doing a hull cleaning at the Clearwater Yacht Club and got a chance to take some pictures of the running gear, including the rudder and propeller. You can see clearly that there are lots of barnacles on the rudder and propeller before we began the hull cleaning. The pictures we took after the cleaning show the effect of a good hull cleaning.
A Clean Hull Saves On Fuel Costs
All those barnacles are a drag on the boat. When you go out with a boat bottom covered in barnacles, the fuel cost adds up. Best to clean your hull on a regular basis. The savings in fuel costs alone is worth the price.
